Here are my entries for the Male Pattern Tigerprint competition. I've tried to enter a few varied styles and techniques whilst keeping quite a neutral colour palette. "Stripes"and "Aztec" are painted designs and the others have been completely drawn on the computer.

Spring is here!
Well it may not seem like it what with the weather being bad and all but believe it or not spring is actually here! Well it is in my painting anyway. It's such a lovely image to paint during these terrible bouts of bad weather! Take a look at this latest stage and cheer yourselves up with a bit of sunshine!

My New Painting First Glance
Time for a first glance at my new painting which i started in this weeks oil class. You kind of get the idea of the sort of painting it is going to be but it doesn't give much away yet. I will keep this one a mystery until next week.

Reflections
My painting is finished! My tutor and i had a few minutes reflecting about how we perceive this image and found that there are many different takes on it. Who are the figures? Where are they going? What direction are they walking in? What are the bright lights? etc.... At the end of our discussion we settled on a very apt title, it is simply named "Reflections".
What's your take on this scene? |

A little bit further
I'm a little bit further on with my painting, but it has been difficult as the paint is still wet from Thursday! I have managed to prepare it enough for this week class though. I have scumbled over the background on the right hand side so that it now looks hazy, and also used the same technique for the figures as you could see the brush marks before. Now it all looks nice and smooth.

The rain keeps falling!
The rain is definitely falling on my two characters now! I'm really pleased with the way the background is now gelling with the figures and it now actually looks like it is raining! I am planning on submitting this piece to an exhibition which Bury are holding for students work. As it is only a couple of weeks away, it's a race against the clock, especially as oils need time to dry! A bit of homework is needed this weekend i think in order to be able to add the finishing touches in next weeks class!
